Abstract: There are controversies about the use of drug-eluting stent (DES) in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Recent trials of DES in patients with AMI have shown the relative safety of DES. However, some physicians hesitate to use DES in AMI patients because of increased risk of stent thrombosis and death. We summarized in this article about the efficacy and safety of DES in AMI patients who were enrolled in Korea Acute Myocardial Infarction Registry (KAMIR).
